When students stood shoulder to shoulder in peaceful protests, their voices were repressed with gunshots.
On May 4th in 1970, there were four dead in Ohio.
The Kent State shootings deeply divided the country and triggered a nationwide student strike of about 4 million. It echoed the basic belief that a price must be paid for standing up—for your rights and what you know is right—even if it comes at the cost of life.
Never forget their sacrifice, and more importantly, their message of peace.
